Welcome to Camp Nathanael!

Camp Nathanael is dedicated to winning boys for Christ, training men and boys in effective Christian living and preparing them for Christian adulthood. It provides an environment to grow in faith and opportunities for men to mentor men and fathers to spend time with their sons.

Camp Nathanael sits on one of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes and is distinctive in the programming it offers. There is a complete summer camping program that includes camps for boys in grades 3 – 12, Father/Son camps, Freshman Work Crew and Non-Com leadership.

The Work and Fellowship days in the Spring and Fall are an opportunity to bring the entire family for a day service. There is always something to be done at Camp Nathanael.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can come to Camp Nathanael?
Any boy can come. The purpose of Camp Nathanael is to help your son grow in the four major areas of life — physical, intellectual, social and spiritual — in the exciting context of an active outdoor program.

My son is currently in 6th grade. Which camp should he attend?
While Stockade camp is for boys entering grades 3 - 6 as of September and Battalion is for boys entering grades 7 - 12, the 7th grade boys may attend either Stockade or Battalion camp. For different reasons, we understand the importance of allowing some 7th grade boys to attend Stockade camp. Most 7th grade boys have no problem making the adjustment to Battalion camp and look forward to moving up with the older boys.

Can my son have his friends in the same cabin?
We do place boys in cabins with their friends, no mater how far apart their registrations are received in the mail, as long as they request one another on their registration forms. We also place boys of similar ages together in cabins whenever possible. We do not put 3rd grade boys with 6th graders or 7th grade with 11th grade unless there is a specific request to do so. Simply list the names of the boys your son would like to have in his cabin on the "cabin partners" line on his registration card.

How does my son select his crafts?
Campers select their crafts on the Sunday they arrive at camp in the order their registration was received based on the postmark. Most boys receive the crafts they want, but some can fill up quickly so it is important to register early. Horsemanship and rocketry each requires an additional fee. Horsemanship requires pre-registration on the back of the registration card and usually does fill up.

How long is a week of camp?
Registration begins at 3 PM on Sunday. Parents can collect their son at 10 AM the following Saturday. (Late arrivals and early departures can be arranged).

What crafts are available for my son?
Stockade crafts are archery, BB guns, canoeing, fishing, handicraft, horsemanship, rappelling, sailing, swimming & woodsmanship. Pellet guns and model rockets are also available for boys in grades 5 - 6 as of September.

Battalion crafts include archery, canoeing & sailing (one craft) fishing, handicraft, horsemanship, model rockets, rappelling (with a trip to the Sandstone cliffs on Friday), riflery shotguns, swimming, and woodsmanship.

What are the advantages to early registration?
Your son’s craft selection number is based on the postmark from his registration. The sooner the registration arrives, the lower the craft selection number. Your son will receive a $5 credit on his canteen bill if his registration arrives with a postmark prior to April 1.

Does the camp provide transportation to and/or from Camp Nathanael?
Yes. We provide van service from Park Free Church in St. Louis Park (Twin Cities). The van departs for camp each Sunday at 1:30pm and returns on Saturday around 11:45am. There is an additional fee for the van transportation.

How do I register my son for Camp Nathanael?
Camp brochures and registration cards are available in February either through the USMail or downloaded from the website at www.campnathanael.com. Registration can be completed by sending the registration card and camp fees to the address listed on the card.
